But, there are so many compelling reasons to make the switch to soap. Here are my top five – these were key for me when deciding to switch to soap, but I’m sure you will have your own – I’d love to hear what they are!
Soap is more eco-friendly
Soap uses considerably less plastic to produce and package, and creates less waste. I know it’s obvious, but it’s important.
Did you know that every single piece of plastic ever made, still exists – somewhere?! Whaaaaat???
Soap lasts longer
Stored properly (have you seen our Bamboo Soap Dishes?!) your handmade soap bar will last much longer than shower gel. Making it a more cost-effective option – as well as being awesome!
Who hasn’t squeezed way too much shower gel onto their sponge? Can’t put it back in the bottle, so down the plughole, it goes!
Soap is travel friendly
It will not spill, burst or otherwise cause a mess in your bag! In fact, you can leave it unwrapped in your luggage to make your laundry smell sweet when you get home!
Also, it doesn’t count towards your liquid/gel allowance in your hand luggage!
I don’t know about you, but I need every ml of that I can get!
Soap is skin-kind
Especially the handmade variety! Soap needs fewer preservatives and surfactants to stay fresh and ‘lathersome’ for longer!
When someone handcrafts a soap, they choose the ingredients very carefully, so you can be sure they have thought long and hard about how the soap will feel on, and affect, your skin.
Soap feels like a treat
Soap feels luxurious – again, especially the handmade kind. My soaps contain the best ingredients – pure essential oils, argan oil, and goat’s milk to complete the luxury experience!
There is something lovely and soothing about holding a bar of soap in your hand and lathering it up on your body – total sensory immersion.
