My Favourite Summer Rituals (and Why I’m Sharing Them With You)

Hi, I’m Kathryn — maker, runner, tea drinker, semi-retirement dreamer, and founder of Shine Body & Bath.

If you’ve been here a while, you’ll know I’m a big believer in rituals. Not the rigid, “do it every day or you’ve failed” kind (I’ve been locked in that spiral before!), but the gentler, soul-soothing kind that make life feel calmer, more intentional, and a little more balanced.

And in summer? Oh, summer rituals are my favourite. There’s something about the light, the warmth, and the slower pace that makes it easier to drop into the moment. Here are the ones I keep coming back to year after year…

My Favourite Summer Rituals | Cup of tea on a bench

1. Morning Light + Clarity Moments

I’m always awake early no matter what (thank you perimenopause!) – so I’ve learnt to embrace it. I’ll take my tea outside, barefoot on the grass if I can, and just breathe in the morning air before the world gets noisy.

Sometimes I’ll do a short guided meditation or journal on whatever’s on my mind. This is pure Third Eye energy for me — tuning into intuition, clearing mental fog, and setting the tone for the day.

2. Afternoon Sun Worship

Summer is a slower time for me – Christmas market prep hasn’t started in earnest… yet! – so I can really lean into my favourite thing: soaking up the sun. Soak up that Vitamin D, people!

Give me an iced herbal tea, a lounger, and a book, and I’m in my happy place. Those pauses might sound small, but they’re my way of truly soaking in the summer instead of rushing past it.

3. Evening Energy-Cleansing Baths

Yes, even in summer! Not boiling hot, but warm enough to soothe. I’ll add one of my chakra soaks — Third Eye when I want calm + clarity — and use the salts to help cleanse away any stagnant energy from the day.

Sometimes I’ll put my chakra diffuser blend on too, so the scent wraps around me. If I’m not in the mood for a bath, I’ll swap it for a cool shower with my favourite soap, followed by body oil. Small acts, but total resets.

4. Gratitude & Reflection

Summer evenings feel longer, so I’ll often sit outside with my journal – jotting what made me smile, something I learnt, or just a moment I want to remember. It’s grounding, but also expands my perspective.

From My Rituals to Yours

These are the little things that make my summers feel richer, calmer, and more me. And they’re exactly the kind of practices that inspired me to create something new and exciting…

For years I’ve woven these kinds of rituals into my everyday – tuning into my energy, listening to what I need, and finding small, simple ways to feel clearer, calmer, and more connected. I wanted a way to share that with you, so you can integrate them into your own life without it feeling like “one more thing” on your to-do list.

So later this year, I’m launching Shine Club – a space where we explore the chakras, journaling prompts, meditations, and easy self-care shifts that help you feel good and live with more intention.

I can’t wait to welcome you in. If you’d like to know more or jump on the waitlist, drop me an email and I’ll get back to you.

What about you?

Do you have a summer ritual you look forward to all year? Tell me in the comments – I’m always looking for new ones to try!
